I Don't Remember Choosing That!
February 13th 2008 08:20
I have spoken before about the ease in which we can slip into being a victim or a martyr. These roles help give us excuses and patterns to stop us expressing ourselves and stepping into our joy and passion. We can stay within the limits and rules that we believe society requires of us.
The opposite of being a martyr or victim is to be a creator. When you are a creator you are aware that everything that happens in your life is your creation. You take responsibility for yourself and what happens to you. Stuff just doesn't happen to you because it was meant to be or it was your destiny. Stuff happens to you because that is how you choose to experience your time in your body on the planet.
Ok I know this brings up the hard questions like so did all those people in Asia choose to be in the path of a tsunami? or did a three year old girl choose to be molested? I will be honest and say these are still issues I have a hard time answering with "well they made a contract to experience this." That truly is a whole other discussion, mainly centring on compassion.
"Ask and you will recieve" is as old as the Bible, literally. New age took it and changed it to "ask the universe to fulfill your wishes." Now in the new energy we say "Choose".
I started this year and chose flow and creativity. Creativity kicked in and my writing has been strong. I even renewed my energy in my blog. The flow was mainly to do with my finances. The flow started, it just went in the wrong direction.
Then there was D-day or should I call that F-day cos there was a word starting with 'F" I used a lot that day. 10am find out that my car needs possibly $2000 worth of repairs. 6.30pm my webhost (not Orble!!) has a massive poweroutage and my website loses everything I have loaded in the last two months, including the link to purchase my book. I have no way to access the site to correct this and support are so overloaded they have to shut down their very own site. There was literally nothing I could do. I sat in front of my computer and thought " I don't remember choosing this!"
OK I admit far worse things could have happened to me....and in a way even typing this has helped me realise this even more (thank you Blogging Gods)....but stress is all relevant!
What is has made me reflect on though is that despite consciously choosing flow and creativity there are still parts of me that must be addicted to the drama that this gave me. Drama is just the spin we put over a situation. If we buy into it too much we just step into victim or martyr again. For me that was the challenge; ok I created this, now how do I choose to experience it.
I chose to breathe and stay centred. The next day I gained access to my site and with one click all was restored, not just on the site, but the flow of sales with my book kicked in too.
Now I choose to just find drama on TV.
